  • Most of the Internet phones are compatible like most of the big providers (Cisco, VIA, etc.), the driver comes from the provider not from the application. Therefore users have to request a software from their provider to use TAPI, just as you require a printer driver when installing a printer. There is hardware availabe that can be connected to switch points in companies for the phone switches or the like. Each phone of this switch becomes TAPI compatible with this solution. Very often these solutions are free with the first installation of the phone system in companies (or for individuals). If, however, you want to add them later your provider will often charge you.
